Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) chaplains are offering emotional and spiritual care in Randolph County, North Carolina, after sheriff’s deputies located a deceased 7-year-old boy who was reported missing over the weekend.
The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office asked BG-RRT chaplains to minister to deputies, staff, and the community following a three-day search for Liam King, a nonverbal child from Asheboro. His body was found in a pond Tuesday not far from where he was staying.
“It’s heartbreaking to hear that Liam King’s life has ended in such a terrible way,” said Josh Holland, international director of BG-RRT and a father of four. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the King family, all those who knew and loved Liam, and with the first responders and volunteers who searched tirelessly, hoping to bring a happy ending to Liam’s disappearance.
“Our chaplains … will share the love of Christ as they listen to, comfort, and pray with those who have been affected by this tragedy.”
Please pray for Liam’s family, first responders, and all those mourning in the wake of this tragedy. Pray that they will experience the nearness of the Lord, “the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction” (2 Corinthians 1:3–4, ESV).
